Our Dedication to the Community: Access to Justice for All

Beyond our commercial endeavors, Corpolit & Co. LLP is profoundly committed to social responsibility and the principle of equal access to justice. We believe that everyone, regardless of their financial circumstances, deserves high-quality legal representation. To this end, we proudly undertake pro bono initiatives, offering our legal skills and time to support individuals and charitable organizations that require expert counsel but lack the means to access it.

This commitment is a core part of our identity. It allows us to extend our professional expertise to serve the wider community, ensuring that legal challenges are not a barrier to justice. Through our pro bono work, we aim to make a tangible, positive impact on the lives of deserving individuals and the missions of organizations dedicated to the public good. Read on to catch a glimpse of our pro bono efforts and our dedication to this crucial work.

A Glimmer of Hope

We believe in fighting for justice, especially for those who've lost hope. Our firm took on the case of a woman living in poverty with her unemployed children, whose husband, a public servant, had vanished and later died.

A cruel twist of bureaucracy denied her family a compassionate allowance because he had been dismissed from service for being a "habitual absentee." The system, it seemed, had coldly and legally closed the door on her.

Refusing to accept this, we took her case to the Delhi High Court. The lower tribunal had focused on the perceived severity of her husband’s conduct, but we knew the law was on our side. The true test was not the severity, but whether the misconduct fell into a specific, narrow category that disqualified him. His did not.

The court agreed with our reasoning, noting a legal "cleavage" on this very matter. In a decision that gave our client a new lease on life, the court sent the case back for a fresh review. Our pro bono work breathed life into her fight, proving that a compassionate view can, and must, prevail over rigid bureaucratic rules.

A Second Chance at a Career

We believe in a system that offers second chances, especially for those fighting against the odds. Our firm took on the case of a man from a marginalized community, a railway employee whose dream of advancing his career was derailed after he failed a mandatory training course twice.

The termination of his employment was a devastating blow, not just to his career, but to his family's stability.

Refusing to accept this, we took his case to the Central Administrative Tribunal. The legal battle rested on a critical piece of law: a specific circular that allows employees from marginalized communities an additional chance at mandatory training, even after failing twice. We argued that he deserved the same opportunity, particularly given a precedent where a similarly situated person had been granted a third chance.

The Tribunal agreed with our reasoning, noting that the man's background warranted “special consideration.” In a decision that gave our client a new lease on life, the Tribunal sent the case back to the railway authorities with a directive to grant him a third chance at the training. Our client's fight had paid off, offering a glimmer of hope for his career and his family. The case stands as a testament to our belief that the legal system can and must provide a fair chance for all.
